FDM is a vbit program designed to work only with bit browsers. Workaround: Use the Flashgot extension instead. Currently FDM does not support 64bit versions of browsers. Make sure you use the latest version of FDM. If it's still not working with Firefox, try this: shutdown Firefox, turn off monitoring of Firefox in FDM options, start Firefox again, shutdown it again, turn on monitoring of Firefox.
